I have tried the procedure that you described and it should be possible for you to achieve what you want.

Could you provide more information about the erratic behavior that you observed?

Configuring the device = plugging into the main usb port on the side and using the Jlink uart to type in a few commands. Always using the JLink USB port.

Hi Andy,

I would need some more information to be able to better assist you.

Regarding steps 2 and 5, what are you trying to do exactly when "configuring the device" and "communicating with the device"?
Which USB port are you using for connecting DK to PC in step 1?
When you connect again as you mentioned in step 4, are you connecting to the same USB port as in step 1?

Oh, and please let me know if this can be achieved and if so how. I have both 4.8V 3xAA and a 3.6V Li-Ion batteries
